What is a Vector? Images can be of two types, raster based and vector based. Raster based or pixel based file formats (.GIF, .TIF, .BMP, .JPG) are made up of pixels. VECTOR images on the other hand are comprised of lines (wireframe) that represent the objects. What is Vector Conversion? Vector conversion is when a raster image is manually traced, to produce artwork of the highest quality. In order to convert your image (logo or sketch/ illustration) to all the correct formats, our designers first have to convert your image into a VECTOR based format. This is done by literally tracing the outlines of each shape using a professional VECTOR based drawing program (Corel draw). This is a fairly time consuming process and requires a highly skilled designer. What are the advantages of Vector Art? Other than using a raster image on the web and printing, there is not much that can be done with it. We can't even enlarge it, the image pixelates rather badly. Vector images can be Scaled to any size, without any loss in quality of the image. It does not become jagged or lose its detail. It can be partially edited or updated. The first one is FREE. Receive your quote via the imagetovector.com website and via email Approve your quote or negotiate the adjustments then pay online. You can choose your own method for sending your images to and receiving them from us. The standard method takes place using the Image To Vector browser. You can select the images you wish to have edited and, by clicking ‘upload’, the images will be copied to our servers automatically. For larger groups of images it is also possible to use FTP. If you want to use this option you need to send an email to uploads@imagetovector.com requesting FTP details. However, if you are working with MAC OSX and a Safari browser, this option is not the thing for you. Please use another browser (such as Firefox), an FTP client and the most recent Flash Player (version 9.0 or higher) for better performance in MAC OSX. Who carries out the work? How much does it cost? Your first vector conversion hour is free. Register here. For the succeeding conversion jobs, our rate is £4.15 per hour, (or $ 8.30USD per hour, or € 6.25 euros per hour) Rates may change due to currency fluctuations. The minimum charge is 30 minutes work. How do I make the payment? You can specify your method of payment: Debit Card, Credit Card or Pay Pal How should I pay for the conversion? Our work is charged on 15 minutes intervals. Minor corrections as a result of misunderstood instructions are done free of charge. Can I enlarge or reduce the vector art? Yes vector images are scalable. They can be enlarged or reduced to any size without losing the quality of the image. How long would I have to wait to get my file after I pay? Your completed vectors are delivered within 2-48 hours – guaranteed, regardless the amount of images. Unless the image is very complex – we will let you know if this is the case. Will you keep my artwork on file? Your artwork will be kept on file for a period of 90 days after your order is completed. We will also use your images from time to time for promotional work, unless you prefer us no too. Ideally sending us your preferred font will hasten the vector conversion process as well as reduce the cost.
